April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals in multiple Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the coming days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. It could be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, and even play well, she believes the team could win a gold medal. Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of luck. Ross, who was born 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began competing in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. Along with competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her high school volleyball career as per her college profile, she played as a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National players of the year. She also captured the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before that. In reality, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was a volleyball superstar. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 to 2013. She also worked with Klineman as well as herself. Along together with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009, while racing internationally. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans of USC in her the college years following her graduation from the high school she attended. She had a great run through the NCAA tournament. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player to help the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore year, but she still repeated her place as an All-American. Through her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States by The Honda Sports Award. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the privilege of watching her daughter become a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie is an inspiration on and off at the beach.
