Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The name was given to her by her parents in honor of the town where she grew in. Michel Horowitz is her father as well as Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder is a self-described Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was just seven years old, her family relocated to Mendocino County California. The family lived in a place without electric power. Ryder was an avid read and often spent her time reading books as there was no TV. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12, and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. When she was fifteen, she landed her first part on the screen in Lucas. Ryder was bullied throughout her high school years. She hoped that her career in acting would change this. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. It didn't stop her from pursuing dreams. In 1988, she got her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in a variety of films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
